About William T Adams

I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, and moved from New York to California in the early 1970s to begin my career in footwear. I have resided in Camarillo, California, since 1982 with my lovely wife Loly, a retired translator/educator with the Pleasant Valley School District. We have 2 sons, Michael and Robert. My oldest, Michael J. Adams, now works with me.

After graduating from St. Joseph High School in Cleveland and attending Kent State University for a year, I embarked on a 30-year journey in the footwear industry. My career began as retail district manager with Vanguard Ltd., a division of Melville Shoe Company, where I oversaw the opening and growth of 12 premium retail stores during Southern California’s major mall expansion from 1972 to 1979. From 1980 to 2002, I transitioned to the wholesale footwear market serving as a regional Account Executive for several manufacturers, including Old Maine Trotters, Old Town Maine, and then with Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville New York. My final role in the industry was as National Account Executive for Etienne Aigner, New York, New York, where I significantly contributed to the successful launch of their new comfort shoe division, Easentials, driving annual sales from $0 to $20 million. My accomplishments include building relationships with major department stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dayton Hudson’s, May Co, JC Penney, and several national catalog companies, the Marines, and Navy Exchanges from Virginia Beach, VA to San Diego, CA, and the largest on-line footwear retailer, Zappos.com.

In 2002, and after 9/11 and a desire to reduce air travel, I made a significant career shift to the health insurance business. I spent the first year learning the health and benefits markets with a successful agency in Orange County, CA, before going out on my own. Located in Ventura County, CA, I help clients with health, dental, vision and life insurance plans for small businesses, Medicare beneficiaries, and individuals and families. My strong work ethic and continuous pursuit of product knowledge have led to my success as a professional independent health/life insurance agent. Currently, I service over 700 clients across California and six additional states: AZ, NV, CO, ID, OR, NC. Our practice started with zero clients and now supports businesses in various industries including physician practices, veterinary clinics, manufacturers, and financial services. Many of our clients have been with me from our earliest years in business! We represent major health insurers such as Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, WellCare, SCAN, Delta Dental, and VSP vision plans.

We also specialize in helping Medicare beneficiaries navigate the complexities of their plan options, available to them, with our oldest client turning 100 this September! We help many clients that are in their 90’s! Additionally, I also enjoy helping the self-employed and individual/family markets, including Covered California.

I am a past President of the Camarillo Kiwanis Club. I maintain my health and fitness through daily swimming and gym workouts at our local YMCA. In my leisure time, I love competing in golf and billiard leagues and rooting for the Cleveland Indians and Browns to make it back to their respective championship games! My wife Loly and I enjoy traveling to new places in the country or the world, or just taking simple weekend walks on one of California’s many beautiful beaches.

I am borned and raised in Camarillo, CA. After a year at Moorpark college I decided to move up to Reno and Later Kings Beach on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. It was there that found my first professional calling working as a line cook and later worked my way into a chef.

In my culinary career I worked for some really great chefs and also ran my own kitchens. It was an amazing career that allowed me to travel and experience cooking the regional cuisines this country has to offer. One thing my father ingrained in me when I moved up to Lake Tahoe was to make sure I had health insurance. Unfortunately most of my jobs did not offer it, it was not common for food and beverage until very recently. It was in Lake Tahoe that I had to go into emergency surgery to have my appendix removed and it was looking at that final bill of services received that my father was one percent correct about this insurance thing. I was the only person in my group of friends that had insurance but after showing them the bill and explaining to them you can't plan an appendecidence I managed to convince some of them it was a good idea to invest in some health insurance.

Fast forward to the present and that hasn't changed. I was given an opportunity to move back home and learn the Health Insurance Industry from my father and continue his Adams Health Insurance Services business. There are aspects of the insurance industry that can be a challenge for even the most experienced agents in the industry let alone for people that have never had to navigate the options of coverage while balancing the cost.

I don't see myself as a salesman in the least bit but more of a steward to present to you the some of the choices you have. In a world of automation and convenience by robots, I still believe in human interaction (in person whenever possible.)

When I am not in the office working, I am with my fiance and we love going to concerts, driving down to Orange County to see my cousins, and enjoying the amazing weather in southern California. I love to watch sports, learn computer programming and hit the links.
